Project Overview


Purpose:
The purpose of this project is to implement within MAIS schools and international schools worldwide a standards-based science program with related alignments in curriculum, instruction and assessment.




Standards:
Project AERO (American Education Reaches Out)
USA National Science Education Standards



Goals:
1. Assist MAIS K-6 schools to implement standards-based science.

2. Prepare school site leadership cadres for K-6 science improvements.

3. Align school K-6 science curricula with the best of Project AERO and/or USA National Science Education Standards.

4. Increase utilization of inquiry-oriented instructional strategies.

5. Increase utilization of authentic assessment techniques.

6. Construct an electronic MAIS K-6 science standards resource bank.

7. Utilize the Internet, a CD ROM, and other electronic means to share resources among MAIS schools and international schools worldwide.

8. Establish and share K-6 school models of science standards implementations.

MAIS School Countries:
International schools in Spain, Italy, Portugal, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Cyprus, and France
